Who Are We?

“the training you delivered brought our key concepts to life in a fun,

yet high impact way.”

Faye Arnold, Sr. Marketing Manager, Yahoo! UK

The Team

Laura Stoll, President, spent fifteen years on the corporate ladder. Climbing the ranks of KPMG/BearingPoint Consulting, Laura lent her talents to international system implementation projects for Fortune 500 financial institutions. She completed the Second City Training Program in Chicago and Toronto as a right-brain supplement to her very left-brain job. Laura discovered that creative infusions of humor appropriately applied in a professional setting allowed for incredible levels of communication. The amount of time she spent in incredibly dull meetings led her to dream of a better way. And thus, The Riot Act was born.  Laura enjoys making grocery lists and specifying future vacation destinations to pass the time during really long meetings.

Jay Austin Sukow, Creative Director, has performed without a script for nearly 20 years. He writes, directs and produces The Riot Act engagements for Fortune 500 corporations. Jay is committed to finding humor through truth. He requires all Riot teams to work at top intelligence. In doing so, The Riot Act has elevated corporate meetings internationally. Jay is very involved in Chicago’s Improv scene. He teaches and performs at most of Chicago’s famed improv theaters. The many talented performers he’s worked with are the base for The Riot Act’s incredibly deep nation-wide talent pool. Jay pretends to receive mission-critical messages on his Blackberry during particularly uninspiring events.

Heidi Karpa, Communications Director, spent the last 10 years bridging her time between corporate and entertainment projects. As one of HGTV.com’s original hosts, Heidi developed feature segments, created original member content, and consulted with international corporations. She has coordinated projects with producers, executives and the national press. To date, her content has reached over 11 million homes. Heidi is also a performer and graduate of Second City’s Conservatory. After working on several Riot Act projects, she migrated in-house to exclusively develop content for The Riot ActHeidi  parents by text when she disengages at meetings. It’s led to some interesting exchanges with the her teachers.
